Type 2 diabetes is a long-term condition that affects how the body controls blood sugar, or glucose. It occurs when the body does not make enough insulin or becomes resistant to the insulin it produces. Overweight and obesity can increase the risk of developing type 2 diabetes and may make blood sugar harder to manage. Obesity is a chronic condition involving excess body fat, which can contribute to serious health concerns. Genetics, lifestyle, environment, and how the body uses energy can all play a role.
Migraines are not just ordinary headaches; they are a neurological condition that can lead to severe throbbing or pulsing pain, often felt on one side of the head. If you experience 15 or more headache days each month, you may be dealing with Chronic Migraine. If youยve had 8 or more headache days per month for at least 3 months and are at least 18 years old, you might qualify to participate.
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a condition that causes nerve damage, disrupting communication between the brain and the body. This disease can lead to a range of symptoms, including vision loss, pain, fatigue, and coordination issues. The severity, type, and duration of these symptoms can vary significantly from one person to another. While some individuals may experience minimal or no symptoms throughout their lives, others may endure chronic and debilitating symptoms.
Parkinsonยs Disease (PD) is a progressive disorder that affects the motor system, resulting from the loss of dopamine-producing brain cells. This reduction in dopamine disrupts movement, often causing tremors, stiffness, and other physical difficulties that can hinder daily activities. PD impacts millions globally, and clinical trials play a crucial role in advancing research and discovering new treatments.

One of the best ways to determine whether you qualify for a clinical trial is to take part in a memory evaluation. Memory screenings are offered at no cost to you.
If you are 50 years or older, screening for memory or other cognitive impairment should be part of your annual overall health regimen for many important reasons. These include an open discussion about your concerns, a thorough review of your medical history, a review of the medications you are currently taking, a review of your familyยs medical history, a detailed explanation about memory loss, tests to determine if you have memory problems, and an explanation of the options currently available.
After a thorough evaluation and review of the results of your no-cost memory screening, you will be notified if you qualify for a clinical trial. Additional screening procedures are required for trials.

While the clinical study process varies for each trial, there are certain steps that regularly occur. Before you begin a study, all procedures and details will be thoroughly explained to you. Over the course of the study, the Study Coordinator and Principal Investigator physician will assist you and answer questions. They will check your health at the beginning of the trial, give you specific instructions for participating, monitor you carefully during the trial, and stay in touch with you after the study.
Some clinical trials involve more tests and doctor visits than you would normally have for your illness or condition. Your participation will be most successful if you carefully follow all instructions you are given and stay in contact with the research staff.
There are many safeguards in place that all research organizations must follow when conducting clinical trials. At CenExel, we proudly adhere to these safeguards and take additional steps to ensure participant safety and comfort.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is the regulatory agency that oversees all clinical research conducted in the United States. It is their responsibility to protect the rights and, as much as possible, the welfare of subjects participating in clinical trials. The FDA reviews the data collected from clinical trials becauseย they ultimately determine whether a new treatment should be sold in the U.S. Several organizations and individuals are governed by FDA regulations including clinical investigators, pharmaceutical sponsors (the companies developing the treatments), Contract Research Organizations (companies that help conduct the studies), and Institutional Review Boards (groups that are responsible for ensuring the safety and welfare of study participants).
Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines are industry guidelines designed to protect the safety of trial subjects. These guidelines encompass federal regulations and industry-accepted standards that govern clinical trials. These regulations and standards apply to the conduct of the studies, record keeping, informed consent of subjects, collection of scientific data, and submission of information needed for the FDA to determine whether a new treatment should be sold in the U.S. All research organizations must follow these guidelines when conducting clinical research.
An Institutional Review Board (IRB) is a committee that is formally tasked by an institution to review, approve, and monitor research involving human subjects. IRBs ensure that the risks to subjects are minimized; that subjects are adequately informed about the trial and the implications it will have on their treatment; that study protocols are modified, when necessary, to ensure safety; that risks are reasonable in relation to the anticipated benefits and the importance of the knowledge to be gained; that subject selection is equitable and that no classes of patients are discriminated against; that informed consent is obtained; that there is a provision for safety monitoring in the research plan; and that there are adequate provisions for the privacy and confidentiality for subjects and the data collected.
